Coils are an important part of the GeekVape Aegis device, as they heat the e-liquid to create vapour. Over time, the coil goes through wear during daily use. Knowing when to replace the coil helps maintain the overall function of the device and keeps each draw clear and consistent.
Typical lifespan of a coil:
Most Geekvape aegis coils last between 1 to 2 weeks. The exact time depends on how often the device is used and the type of e-liquid chosen. Heavy use, sweet liquids, or chain vaping may cause the coil to wear out more quickly. Light use may allow it to last a bit longer.
Signs it’s time to change the coil:
Several signs suggest that a coil is nearing the end of its life. A clear change in flavor is often the first sign. When the taste starts to feel dull or different, the coil may be slowing down. A slight burnt smell or harshness during a puff is another signal. Reduced vapour or uneven airflow can also point to an ageing coil.
Flavor loss:
Once the flavor starts to fade even with fresh liquid, the coil may no longer be working properly. This is one of the first noticeable signs. Replacing the coil restores the clear taste and brings back the full flavor profile of the e-liquid.
Gurgling or leaking:
If the device starts gurgling or leaking, the coil may be saturated or damaged. This often happens when a coil has reached the end of its cycle. Changing to a new coil usually stops these issues and makes the vape feel normal again.
How to extend coil life:
Letting the coil soak for a few minutes before first use supports a better start. Using a lower wattage within the recommended range also helps reduce early wear. Clear, non-sweet liquids tend to keep the coil cleaner for longer. Regular cleaning of the pod or tank where the coil sits may also slow down residue build-up.
Changing the coil:
GeekVape Aegis coils are designed to be easy to change. Once the old coil is removed, press-fit the new one into place and fill the pod or tank. Let it rest for five to ten minutes before using it again.
